About Cedric Higgins

Before heading the Liberty National Agency Office in Columbus, Mississippi, Cedric Higgins owned a small grocery store about three hours east in Greenville.

Unknown to anyone but he and his wife, Cedric was planning to permanently close his store and begin the hunt for a new career. He was about three weeks from locking the door for the last time when a Liberty National Agent by the name of George Thompson marched into his store, changing his life and the lives of his family forever.

“George came in wanting to sell me a Liberty National cancer policy,” Cedric recalls. Cedric remembers being reluctant to purchase a policy, due to his uncertain financial situation at the time. “But George was persistent,” Cedric says, “and he went by my wife’s office afterwards, did a presentation, and sold her the Liberty National cancer policy” … but that wasn’t the only thing he sold her.

“When I got home that evening,” Cedric recalls, “my wife was trying to sell me on a Liberty National career that, evidently, George had told her about.”

It worked! Following his initial interview with Liberty National, Cedric remembers thinking, “Insurance sales is the last thing I ever thought I would be doing.” But now, more than fifteen years later, Cedric calls his decision to give Liberty a chance “the best career move I ever made and a blessing to me and my family.” Cedric is now one of Liberty National’s top Agency Owners, as evident by his place on the Council of Champions.

The Columbus Agency members are active supporters of the Salvation Army of Washington County, as well as the Relay for Life in Lamar County, Alabama. And when Cedric isn’t volunteering or working hard at the office, he’s likely spending time with his family, playing golf, or fishing.

His only regret with Liberty National is that he didn’t start sooner. But each and every day, Cedric Higgins is making up for lost time by helping others find their way to a Liberty National career as early as possible.
